WHIMSICAL ALASKA — INSTALLMENT 2

Way early last century, my high school journalism teacher said "Don't write the article unless you can answer the 5 Ws:  Who? What?  Where? When? and Why?".

So it's yet another failing grade for me today because the only thing I know for sure is that these pictures were taken along the Highway somewhere in Alaska (near Haines actually).

And about the rest?  Seriously, especially when it comes to WHY,  I have absolutely no clue whatsoever.

Although I think the mannekin in the phone booth is supposed to be Superman changing clothes, so maybe that could count for 'Who', if we stretch it.  Maybe I can get a "D" grade.

Sharing the silliness with RUBBISH BY ROAN and with Lesley's SIGNS SIGNS and with anyone else who thinks old or broken-down things are cool or that signs can be funny or interesting or all of the above.    (Visit the links or leave your own.)  Thank you to both the hosts!!

We appreciate all visitors and commenters! Thank you.

  11. I too took journalism in high school. The Why drove me into bigger questions. Does not matter why for your photos. I like them Alaska says it all. I like the Honeymoon Cottage. Got to keep warm on cold nights.

  12. Well, you get an A+ from me Sallie. These photos are great whether you know all about them or not. The honeymoon hotel I liked particularly though they were all fun to see and your commentary was a fun read.

  13. What awesome sights! The Honeymoon Hotel is so incredibly charming. And that phone attached to the tree with butterflies and bird cage is so weird and wonderful. Looks like things you’d find in Portland.

  14. I love these whimsical shots. I might even light to spend the night in that shack in the summer with a sleeping bag.

  15. The first one really blends in. The other four are a bit to much humen rubbish in the wood for me.

  16. I love the Honeymoon Hotel with the flowers in the windows, Sallie!

  17. The Honeymoon Hotel leaves a lot to the imagination – as it should be. And has superman mistaken the booth for a gents'”retiring room’? Sorry, that was my first thought.
