CLOSE TO HOME ADVENTURES

(A few pretty bad pictures, but they'll explain what's been keeping us close to home lately.  And why THIS IS OUR WORLD right now.  (Click on the blue link for "That's My World."  Most of the entries are more scenic!)

Yesterday morning Bill looked out our (screened)  window and wondered what that blue and white thing tied up out there was. (Awww.)  It HAS been a while since we've been out on the River.   Instead, here's what's keeping us occupied right here at our little Canal Cottage:

Hooray.   No more QUARTERED TO DEATH.

There is finish-work to complete, but the part of the house where a corner cupboard and catch-all closet were taken out to make room for the laundry room is already looking much better than it did.

It's definitely worth hanging around home for a while.

We appreciate all visitors and commenters! Thank you.

  1. Looks like you had fun doing it!
    looks quite neat…
    Nice pics:)

  2. The boat is calling my name. Great for a ride during summertime!

  3. its exciting renovating. You won’t know yourselves. When we go in our new kitchen we keep thinking we are in someone else’s house. The boat is calling you through the window.

  4. HAH! Dad’s remodeling again. This is how it starts…

  5. Looks like things are getting done… it is looking much better! But still, you can’t be at home all day – why not take that boat out for a spin anyway?

  6. I’ve missed some interesting posts while I’ve been away.
re: tomatoes, I buy as much as I can at my local farmer’s market and I’m glad that for the next 5 months I won’t have to drive 15 miles each way. I know about the health department making life difficult, I just got an e-mail from my organic poultry producer saying I must come to the ranch as the health department won’t let him deliver at the farmer’s market, 15 miles each way.
re: mocking birds, the one at my son’s house gets up way too early.
As for projects, yes, we can’t always play, darn.

  7. Very nice! I remember what a relief it was when we didn’t have to go to the laundromat anymore (that was back in college days – I imagine I’d be even less enchanted with the laundromat now). 🙂

I could use your ladder for installing Ryan’s Reptile
    shed/green house this weekend. It looks like a 10′ x 16′
    erector set.

  9. Looks like you will be up and running in no time. I had a closet in my the 5th wheel plumbed for one but needed the storage far more than a washer/dryer. So glad you have room for one.

  10. I know exactly how you feel about being quartered to death. The new washer/dryer looks wonderful to this washer/dryer deprived fifth wheel occupant. It is one thing I miss. We actually have a closet that is plumbed for a washer/dryer but it gets used for so many other things that I’ve made the decision to not have them installed. So quartered to death is my own choice. But I can still envy yours and say congratulations. Also, it sure is nice to be married to a handyman, isn’t it.

  11. You’ll feel great once the indoor chores are completed!

  12. Sometimes we just need to do different things. Nice pictures
