OH NO, NOT ANOTHER DAM WALK

FOR OUR WORLD.
CORNER ORCHARD RD

LONG WALKIt's fun to walk the causeway between Fern Ridge Dam and Orchard Park, a Lane County Park. The dam is on the other side of the Lake from where we stay, too far to walk to it from our RV.
But that side of the Lake is close to where where Cyndi and Jeff live, making the walk even more inviting. (The top picture is the corner of their street, looking down from the causeway.)

DAM SPILLWAY
So on this lovely October day Bill let me off at the dam on his way to Eugene to do errands.
Dam walk
I kept scaring this poor great blue heron as I walked (not on purpose — I think he was just alert to the crunch of the gravel up above him). He'd fly a few yards and stop and watch and as soon as I got close, he'd fly again. Finally he got smart and flew off, but it took the poor thing about four stops to figure out that I wasn't going to go away.

When I got to Cyndi and Jeff's I did what I usually do there, which is absolutely nothing, accompanied by a healthy dose of watching other people work.

We appreciate all visitors and commenters! Thank you.

  3. That first shot is a gorgeous view Sallie!
Nice captures of the heron even if he didn’t want to hang around.
‘a healthy dose of watching other people work’ – love it!!

  4. Great pic of the blue heron. We have plain, ordinary white ones here, I saw one perched on top of a leylandi across the field, but he was too far away for my little camera.
The dog looks happy and contented, being spoiled as usual no doubt.

  5. It certainly looks like a beautiful walk, and you got some lovely shots to show us!

  6. Your dog looks as happy as a clam!

  7. I wouldn’t mind that dam walk! 🙂

  8. I am really fond of herons too. There used to be one that hung out here on the Peace River and I never did get a good picture of him. They are lovely birds.

  9. cute big old pup! i’d hang out and do nothing too!

  10. Now, Sallie, that is my kind of walk. What fabulous shots of the heron. So majestic and regal and, dare I say, in this case, stawart? Lovely photos.

  11. What a stunning view from the street in the top photo! Great shots all round.

  12. I love the last shot. A cuddle with a big yellow dog is so soothing to the soul.

  13. Beautiful shots of the place. Your dog is cute.

  14. Your nothing is something to us! Sharing your beautiful fall pictures. That’s a beautiful landscape with all great reflections. What is so surprising is that the clouds are in straight horizontal lines.

  15. Oh, admit it, you really wanted that heron to take flight so you could capture a shot of his great wingspan!

  16. LOL! Everyone looks very comfortable in that last shot!
Wonderful heron shots showing its grace and elegance.

  17. Atta way to go girl! A lovely walk in a great place and sit and do nothing. My kind of day . . . I wish.

  18. I love the herons, too! Great captures for the day and it does look like a fun one! Hope you have a great, fun week ahead as well!
