YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERON

We've seen yellow-crowned night herons before, when we were purposely out and about looking for birds, but this is the first one I've seen on our Canal.   I really expected it to fly before I could get my camera out.

First sight

But instead, he seemed to want to pose for me.

Is this my best side?

Or does this one show my white plume better?

  1. A very nice series, Sallie…and your close-ups are excellent. I’m not sure I’ve seen one of these – not in Ocala at least. Sometimes herons are quite skittish…maybe this one figured you had some fish in that box you were pointing at it! 🙂

  2. Left side or right side, it’s sure this bird is always beautiful… Like your shots !

  3. Dearest Sallie,
