With friends in another boat, we spent New Year's Eve on our boat at the River District in downtown Fort Myers.   The weather was lovely.  On New Year's Day — about two hours after we docked back home   … it started to rain hard.  That was good timing for us.

Not as fancy as the Times Square ball, but the temperature sure was nicer

 

Since then, it seems like we've had alternate warm and cold/rainy days.   We get the tail-end of the weather fronts from up North (after they are almost gone).   Tonight (Monday) temperatures of 40 or below are expected — we will be turning on the heat for the first time this winter.  

  

 I cheerfully admit to being a weather-wimp and while I enjoy seeing the peaceful and serene snowy scenes that I see on other blogs, I am happy that "cold" here in Southwest Florida usually means temperatures of  "only" 50 to 60 degrees.  And I can't wait for the 70 to 80 degree weather to return.

 Yes, Winter is different here.  This is the only snowman of our winter season (I hope, unless we go back to this restaurant).

    I am SO sorry to miss this post. I smiled and happy to see Sushi in your picture, my friend. How interesting snowman with shushi☃☃☃ I couldn’t figure out the recipes of the rolled-sushi (we call it ‘makizushi’), but seems really different from ours. Naturally, the taste must be for the people in America.

    I heard on TV that even Florida was having cold weather but I guess nowhere near as bad as up north. I’m like you a weather wimp. I found it cool in Victoria but the locals thought it was warm.

    Well it looks like you’re having to wait for the warmth!! We have been as low as -7deg real temp and we’re at +5deg real temp right now at 11am. Warm up tomorrow and maybe golfing Friday!!!

    We are supposed to break a record in the morning with a temperature of 17!!! Huh? In the deep south? I always say I love the cold until I get hit in the face with an arctic blast. lol I’m a wimp, too. Your NYE sounds like a fun time–great pics. Love the snowman art on the sushi plate, but you can have all the sushi. 🙂

    the snowman is adorable! 🙂 and, yes, cold is a relative term. not hard to adjust to the climes of the region. we were 16 this morning in NE Tx and i shan’t complain. we’ve been colder before and so many others are truly suffering.
