QUAIL QUOSSING

Thank you to Lesley for hosting SIGNS SIGNS.

A couple of explanations — or disclaimers — or something — are in order.

I found these lost pictures this week  – in the process of doing a massive file cleanup (AKA photo dump).    The pictures only go together in my mind… they weren't taken at the same time or in the same place.

The sign was in Ajo Arizona where we stayed  on our Fall  2011 roadtrip.   The birds (and they are quail) were taken in a different year — through our window the last time we had snow in our backyard .  This was in Oregon  in November 2010 — the last time we spent a winter there).

The second explanation… for my dear blogging friends in France, Japan, and other countries:  there is a deliberate misspelling on the sign, just for fun.

I'll be dumping the quail because  it's a  rather horrifyingly bad picture, but I'll probably keep the sign for a while just because I think it's so funny.  Here's another sign from the same Arizona town.  It tells you a lot about that area:

We appreciate all visitors and commenters! Thank you.

  4. Those are both great signs.

  5. fun signs!

  6. Thanks Sallie for your explanations. I think I have all understood !

  7. We have visited through a lot of AZ last summer. Beautiful state, and that particular town seems like a lot of fun town to live or visit. Perhaps next time :-).

  8. Dearest Sallie;
Oh, with my poor English the deliberate typo(it is how one of your friend said) is beyound me(^^;) And the picture of the quail is beautiful as if you put effect on it!
I wish you are here with me to help decipher the play on words, my friend p;)
Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*

  10. I like this…made me smile

  11. that was fun. Love the sign and the birds. 🙂
Re my shots. The magic begins when I see something and gets an idéa to do something with it. Never know where it will end until I ended. 🙂 (giggling)

  12. This sign made me laugh! ;))

  13. Somebody in Ajo has a great sense of humor. I really need to clean files, too – sigh…

  14. I LOVE unique signs too Sallie and these are definitely that! LOVE them:)
    Blessings,
    Aimee

  15. Funny, funny sign, Sallie.

  16. These are great Must be a fun town 🙂

  17. Two super signs Sallie, very funny. I don’t know how you keep finding these gems.

  18. End of the world is good, lol !

  19. Well, I think you should keep the quail picture as it’s very artsy fartsy. Frame it and hang it on a wall or enter it in a photo contest – it would probably win first place.
I quail at the thought you’d get rid of it.
    What mispellink?
And what’s Ajo all about. I lived in Arizona for a number of years and remember lots of ajos there. More recently, though!
[Thanks for your great comments on Ocala DP!)

  20. Cute sign and I love the Quail. They are adorable birds. Fun photos, have a happy day!

  21. The quail sign is adorable. But that Arizona sign is almost creepy.

  22. Great signs!

  23. This is a lot of fun!

  24. Those are some great signs – what a fun post. But I’m afraid I can’t compliment your grail photo – it should probably quoss into the bit bucket 🙂

  25. Oh but aren’t those quail fun to listen to? Love the Ajo sign and the clever wording on the first sign.

  26. Oh I love both signs – someone is clever, for sure. Quail are hard to get pictures of – they move so fast.

  27. Loved the Quail Quossing–too cute. And the artwork incorporating the pipe on the building is so inventive. I think you should listen to Gerald on the quail shot…you never know!

  28. The only quail I’ve seen have been in the freezer department. I guessed they already quossed over.

  29. Arizona border? A scary place. No Country For Old Men. Dianne

  30. I love the quail sign and the wee little quails. I’ve never seen one!

  31. love the quail sign – i didn’t even notice the deliberate typo at first – don’t dump old photos – its amazing what they can be creatively turned into at a later date with new software

  32. A funny play on words. 🙂

  33. Wow, nice place.

  34. i think i’d like it there! 🙂

  35. The quail sign is humorous, so is the bottle sign. Good finds.

  36. Neat signs, and I love that mural.

  37. don’t get rid of the quails pic without editing it on PicMonkey. I’ve improved many a vintage photo by going there. I love the sign’s lisp!
