SCENE ALONG JEANS ROAD

Heard a little rustle in a thicket next to the road ….

… and caught a glimpse of this sweet little yearling .

Here's one of his older cousins and some other scenes of what seems like an earlier-than-usual Autumn around here.

The little guy thought he was better hidden — he stayed and watched me for quite a while.    Just another great reason to interrupt my "power" walk down Jeans Road.

  1. In theory, I love the beautiful deer, but in actual practice–> they eat my flowers!

  2. They have the most beautiful eyes!

What a sweet face and mesmerized by your camera! The last shot is my favourite – I’ve scrolled back up a couple of times.
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday Sallie.

  4. They are great observers! And the little ones are so cute and playful! Surprisingly we kept seeing them during the fire -I thought they would go away for a a while, but no, the birds did! Happy week to you!

  5. How sweet…I saw two across the pond..I hope they are fattening up for the winter now…Michelle

What a sweet face. I hope we see some wildlife this week. Sweet hugs, Diane

  16. I love your captures of the partially hidden deer. Thanks for your comment on my blog. I miss blogging but haven’t been able to keep up with it. It worked better when I worked from home but adding in the driving time to and from work made it become difficult to keep up with everything I wanted to. Take Care, Carver

  17. You watched, and are being watched.

  18. Oh my, isn’t this a wonderful reason for an interrupted walk? Great photos Sallie!

  19. this deer is wonderful with it´s large ears 🙂 Nice sight!

  22. And what a splendid interruption to your routine. This little guy is adorable. Beautiful photos.

  23. I just love spotting deer during my walks/hikes/runs in the woods. I’ve learned how not to alarm them while I fumble for my camera.

  24. I guess she was playing: I spy. 🙂
    Have a great Sunday!

  25. Lovely deer!
    Have a wonderful week-end!

  26. I love seeing deer. We’re still waiting for fall around here, but the leaves at the higher elevations have already started to turn.

  27. Stange weather we’ve been having. What big ears he has!

  28. How nice that he posed for you like that with a kind of perfect framing by the bushes. I’d like to walk down Jeans Road too if you get to see these critters!

  29. Hello Sallie, cute shots of the deer and I love the reflection on the lake. Sometimes we see them around are neighborhood but yesterday was the start of bow hunting so I hope they all ran and hid somewhere. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!

  30. Our wild deer are very shy too. Difficult to get good views or pictures of them but even glimpses are rewarding.
I’m suitably admonished by your comment about all those lifers Sallie. It is easy to get blase about having a good morning of birding and seeing the same old stuff without always appreciating what a fulfilling pastime I have in birding, ringing and photography. Not to mention blogging!

  31. Awesome photo of the little fawn! Looks very peaceful and not at all put off by having her photo taken! Thanks!

  32. Hi! The deer’s eyes are very cute. Thanks for sharing.

  33. How sweet! Those eyes are amazing. Enjoy your weekend!

  34. What a lovely experience! I love these.

  35. Gorgeous little guy. Have a lovely weekend

  36. What a lovely thing to find on your walk. The weather sure is strange these days but scientists have been warning us for a long time.

  37. Some power walks need to be interrupted. 🙂 Splendid shots, Sallie. They really do camouflage well. I first noticed the ears being small her in the midwest when we were in the Rockies. Your deer have the larger ones as well.

  38. Very cute!

  39. These kinds of sightings are always a fun surprise…

  40. sweet wide eyes! i know you need some more moisture up there, although it’s too late for this year.

  41. Such liquid eyes. I do like the name “Jeans Road.” I’ll think you tomorrow, Sallie, when I’m out walking the trail!

  42. Perfect little Deer, love ’em.
