  On a hot summer's day ….

Near McDowell Falls

 

….  IF you can't find a cool canopy of green trees to stand under while you gaze at the clear blue sky,

…And IF you live in downtown Eugene, you could walk, bike,  or take the bus to the Whitaker Neighborhood  and grab a cold one and some lunch at Ninkasi or Hop Valley or one of several other craft breweries in the area.    A cool way to cool down.

OR maybe you'd rather be like these homeowners and embrace your inner fire with a sunny floral display.  Seen on our way to McDowell Falls (here),  I think this was the brightest summeriest yard we've ever seen — and one of those picture ops seen out of the car window that forced me to ask Bill to turn the car around.

    Thank you, Sallie, for this beautiful and fun post! I wish I could send you some cool air from here. After the strong wind and some rain yesterday, today it’s about 13 C (55 F).
    The bright flowers in that garden cheer up not only the owners of the house, but surely also many passers-by and your blog readers. 🙂

    It’s wonderful to view the sky through a tree canopy in any weather but especially useful in sparkling sunshine.The flowers are gorgeous – even better seen in person I think! Have a fabulous week Sallie!

    Seems like you have a good selection of places to cool down Sallie. While I prefer a glass of wine with food nowadays, there is nothing quite like an ice-cold beer to cool down ona hot summer’s day.
    That flower display is amazing. there’s a lot of work, thought and dedication gone into that.

    Love the logo on the first gate. The peeling fence reminds me that I have some of that on the trim over my garage only mine shows more raw wood.

    Hello Sallie!:) Yes, a cold beer on a hot day goes down very well. I keep them in the fridge all the the time. We had a thunder and lightening storm yesterday which cooled the air a little, and my garden plants got a thorough watering. The beautiful Marigolds and Celosia mix make a stunning garden display. So glad your hubby turned back so that you could share these gorgeous images Sallie, and they also make a fabulous fence post.

    Is it still hot up there? It’s been unbearable here. Everywhere, I guess. The hottest July on earth on record. Sure glad that global warming is a myth. Trees make a huge difference. My friends and I gravitate to one local golf course, because most of the tee boxes and greens are shaded by big oak trees. Glad you’re having a good time!
