VIEWS FIT FOR A KING

Oregon and the Willamette Valley have become well-known in recent years for  fine wines.  We had out-of-town company last week and enjoyed touring a few of the wineries that are within just a few miles of our Oregon home.

A couple of interesting old barns belonging to a neighbor of the winery.

But on top of the hill, nothing is the way farms in this area used to look.   This is the winery and restaurant and a view of the "King's Estate."  (The founder of the vineyard was Ed King — only his name, not really royalty.)    But on a beautiful day — when you are enjoying good food, good wine and good company out on the deck — it is easy to feel like you are living royally.

  1. I have never been to one and we have some up near Niagara Falls area…

  2. It’s always so green there! I went on a biking wine tour in the late 80s and even then I loved the wine selections. So full and flavorful. I’m pretty sure it was in Willamette Valley somewhere. Ah, a misspent youth.

  3. I am sure the French won’t believe that wine is produced in the States ! They had already difficulties to admit that there is Australian and Canadian vine !

  4. It looks like a beautiful place to have lunch while also sampling wines. Gorgeous views over the vines.

  5. Wishing to see Oregon soon… if our plan to travel to Asia will not push thru, we are definitely going to Oregon. Thanks for sharing these lovely photos Sallie, makes me really wanna go.

  6. This is beautiful country Sallie. We used to drink a lot of Californian wine – maybe Oregon wine is similar. Wishing you a wonderful week!

  7. I LOVE vineyards! Beautiful photos! I will not be far from the Willamette Valley when we move (I already know it’s pronounced Will-AM-ette) 🙂 Looking forward to all Oregon has to offer!

  8. All that beautiful green! we used to have old barns around here. Now its urban sprawl a good way out. Thanks for sharing your photos.

  9. These barns look really good on top of the hill.
They even look better after a few glasses of wine.

  10. That looks like an interesting place to visit. We have lots of farms around here, but none like that.

  11. Not only a great tour but tasty too.

  12. That is a great past time. Enjoy like royalty.

  13. What gorgeous views!

  14. Gorgeous colors in all of the photos, Sallie!
    Have a Happy Time!!
    Peace 🙂

Sallie, a pretty snazzy view, I’d say. Thanks for rustling up these barn and thinks about The Barn Collective. I appreciate you stopping by, I hope that you can again.

  17. Wineries are spreading all over, its great that the land is being preserved! AND the wine is not bad either…love these shots of the vines on the hill!

  18. A great way to spend time with out of town guests. I will have to look for a bottle of wine from Oregon the next time we have company for dinner. In our area there are quite a few Virginia Wineries that I have yet to explore.

  19. My eyes are happy by seeing the green color all around. Old barn:)

  20. I like green.
I especially like this neat and tidy green.
And included in the list, how can I miss out love and laughter.

  21. Now Sallie, I have never tasted wine from Oregon. Obviously this is a serious gap in my wine drinking life so I know that you will want to load up a case with twelve different bottles so that I can try them all and send them to me right away. it takes me several bottles of each variety to really determine what I like so I know that you will be willing to repeat this gesture several times – all in the interests of promoting your state of course. I promise to raise a toast to you with each sip!

  22. All that green looks so lush ~ things are rather dry here in many places ~ Glad we have the ocean ~ Lovely photography and presentation ~ I would like one of those pleasure tugboats ~ We had a Grand Banks Trawler and loved her too ~ Alas ~ no more as my captain is dancing in the nether world wherever that might be ~
Wishing you a Happy Week ^_^

  23. Such beautiful views!!Loved them.
Greetings from Dubai and have a fantastic day!

  24. Looks like a place I would enjoy!

  25. lol. love this wawy landscape. And the wines ads to the overall beautiy 🙂

  26. What a beautiful landscape Sallie. Although I ‘ve never been there and only seen photograps, when I saw that first photo of yours I thought you had been to Tuscany. The rolling hills, lines of vines and those tall trees did it.
I do like investigating and undertsnding the Latin names of all animals. It is a fascinating subject as of course it is related to when and how animals were first discovered, who named them and why they were so called. Often the names don’t make perfect sense but many times they show how our ancestors knew far more about their surroundings than we might imagine.

  27. Beautiful land and scenery – did you sample any wine or take any away with you?

  28. Nice scenery! I like seeing all that green.

  29. Beautiful views! It does look dry…

  30. Oh-so-lovely! I would feel like royalty with this view, for sure.

  31. Very beautiful shots of country side.

  32. A great thing to do with out of towners. It’s a beautiful setting.

  33. Wine on the Vine is a great name. We have two excellent wineries in Floyd. Now I’m thirsty!

  34. That is very beautiful countryside – the views are certainly lovely.

  35. Great photos and even better views. I can just imagine you sitting out on the deck and enjoying it all. Thanks for sharing.

  36. just beautiful and green!

  37. Beautiful countryside!

  38. Here’s another place we have talked about revisiting. We are still talking about our wine tasting experience there.
    Worth a Thousand Words

  39. Oh so green and lovely! Definitely, fit for a king.

  42. Vineyards, aren’t they a lovely and rich-feeling fight? I know what you mean – I have that same feeling when I drive around the area I live it! Thanks so much for these beautiful views you have shared with SEASONS! Have a happy week, Sally!

  43. You paint a vivid picture of yet another delightful side of Oregon.

  44. Just gorgeous! My daughter and SIL are planning a trip to Oregon in mid-September. They love going to wineries so I’m passing this along to them.

  45. These photos could have been taken at a winery right here in central Florida: the Lakeridge Winery. The scenery is very similar and the winery sits on top of a hill overlooking the surrounding area. It’s magical. And if you taste enough wine, it’s heavenly. At that point get someone else to drive home!

  46. Not born of royalty he certainly was a King of enterprise. Enjoying fine food and company while overlooking the valley would more certainly elevate the spirit.

  47. Hello, I would like to visit some of Oregon’s wineries. The views are lovely. I am sure the food and wine was delicious too.
Happy Monday, enjoy your new week ahead!
