We stopped at the City Yacht Basin in Fort Myers the other day to refuel. I laughed when Bill said that we'd go there for gas — I love our boat, but it would be quite a (long) stretch to call it a yacht! While we fueled up, we temporarily shared dock space with a slightly larger boat — a real yacht — that is called the Sir Winston. It's for sale and if you are looking for a place where you could entertain 400 or so of your closest friends for dinner and dancing, this boat is just the thing! However, there are only five staterooms — so only about 10 of your pals could stay overnight.
Yeah, I know, it would be a real drag having to figure out where all those other guests would sleep! So that might be why she's been for sale for quite a while.
Or maybe it could be the $4 million plus price tag. Who knows?
The guy who worked at the dock and who helped us tie up told me that the Sir Winston's owner is refurbishing that smaller yacht next to it — he thinks the smaller one is nicer and will sell faster.
Personally, I prefer our even smaller boat – it's a lot easier to handle, we don't have to worry about hiring staff, and besides that, it fits SO much better in the canal in front of our park model!
In all seriousness now, the people working at the Yacht Basin were really nice — I'm still not very good at tying the boat off and was a little intimidated as we came up to the dock just around that corner from this big yacht! I worried we might have problems either because we were too small or too inexperienced. But these guys were completely friendly and helpful. No worries for the captain or the first mate.
