There were shades of ruby all over when the Red Hat ladies from our RV resort visited Fort Myers Butterfly Estates. 

The guide reminded us that red is a favorite color of butterflies.  There  were lots of red plantings — and so the red hat ladies seemed to fit right in.

Butterly This privately funded eco-educational facility houses only butterflies native to this area. 

All of the plants are local as well, so people can learn how to attract the butterflies to their own yards.

Some of the ladies thought the feathery looking flowers below would look well on their hats.

    Lovely photos. We have a wonderful butterfly house here. Great place to spend a bad weather day. My mother belongs to the red hats also and has been trying for years to get me to join her group. But, I am hesitant because I would be the youngest one in the group.
    Also, what a fantastic capture of the hawk.

    We don’t have much variety in butterflies here. It seems like there were more when I was a kid. Perhaps there are too many pesticides in use.

    Those ladies in their red hats are everywhere you go. We have several groups here and they seem to eat at the places I go. They are just out and enjoying life. I think it is wonderful.

    I don’t know the names of all those red flowers, but they are gorgeous. No wonder butterflies are attracted to them!
