CHOKOLOSKEE ISLAND EVENING

The first night of our getaway last week we camped in the overflow area at an RV Park on Chokoloskee Island.   We were in a parking lot really, but the view was amazing.

Chokoloskee is one of the 10 thousand islands in the Gulf of Mexico.

The picture above was the early evening view across the street from where we were parked for the night.

And  when I turned around I saw these fellow campers  on our side of the street.

(We were RoadTrek camping, but we always seem to end up near the water, even when we're not on the boat.)

This is almost a Wordless Post, because the beautiful sunset speaks for itself.

  2. Extraordinary play of wonderful colours in these skies. The golds in the second last photo are mesmerising.

  3. Can say the same to you Sally about your sunset: stunning! On my blog it was hubby’s pic (he does nothing but stunning, lol!) Happy Valentine to you both!

  10. Beautiful island with such lovely birds.

  11. I have been to the West Cost so few times in my life. I am the girl of the East Coast. The pictures are beautiful and the skies out of this world. I have a friend that has been telling me that there are trailer parks on the West Coast that are made up of retired people coming south to avoid the cold. I am beginning if that would be a possibility. Buddy would never leave here, but I could certainly come for a few months. I REALLY want to get back home.

  12. Wow! Now those are fantastic skies!

  13. Beautiful!

  14. Glorious skies, Sallie!

  15. Wow – gorgeous sky shots!

  28. I do love sunsets and sunrises, and the way the light plays on the water. Just beautiful! Chokoloskee must have some relation to chocolate in there. 😉

  29. so so beautiful !!!

  30. “Chokoloskee” is a superb name the origins of which I wouldn’t dare to guess but I guess it gets shortened by those in the know? It must be nice to go to bed with pelicans acting as watch dogs for the night and then wake up to find them still there.

  31. No beautiful sunsets here (perhaps behind the mountains !) but gorgeous sunrises always in pink and purple ! Every morning it’s beautiful. I like a lot to admire them !

  32. Gorgeous pictures, Sallie!

  33. Oh, still my heart – awesome sunset. Awesome! It was nice that “fowler” campers shared it with you.

  34. Hello Sallie, what a beautiful place to camp. The sunset is just stunning. Beautiful photos and scenery. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!

  35. Gorgeous photos. I love southwest Florida! And I love those silly pelicans. Re your comment on Ocala: That sign was all in fun. The ice cream shop was owned by a very sweet woman and we had a great time.

  36. Great shots – I really like that last one – I think its the people in it that make it.
